Born in 1993 in Ankara, Turkey, Boyacı was diagnosed with a congenital disability that affected the development of her lower limbs. Despite the challenges she faced, she refused to let her condition define her and instead, channeled her energy into pursuing her passion for sports.
Boyacı’s athletic journey began at a young age, as she discovered her love for swimming. Recognizing her talent and potential, she dedicated herself to training and honing her skills. Her hard work and commitment soon paid off, as she started to excel in national and international swimming competitions.
Sümeyye Boyacı’s achievements are truly remarkable. She has represented Turkey in numerous Paralympic Games, including the 2012 London Paralympics, the 2016 Rio Paralympics, and the 2020 Tokyo Paralympics. Her painting was presented to the Turkish President Abdullah Gül for his official visit to Russia. In April 2009, her watercolor paintings were on display in a personal exhibition in Moscow, Russia. Boyacı gifted one of her paintings to the First Lady of Russia Svetlana Medvedeva in 2010.
